As the Assistant Product Manager, you’ll work closely with the Sr. Product Manager in the development and execution of products, promotions and initiatives that support the overarching strategic vision and imprint strategies to increase readership, sales and profitability of Carina Press and in collaboration with imprint teams, the digital backlist program in North America.
Team Leadership (10%)
•Develops effective Human Resources within team to meet current and future departmental objectives through succession planning, recruitment and selection, coaching and supervision.
•In the context of Harlequin’s long-term vision, goals and strategy, assist the Sr. Product Manager in the development of the marketing plans for Carina Press and select digital backlist author bands.
•Research and recommend advertising and promotional strategies to maximize results for assigned products in accordance with overall growth strategies.
•Continuously monitor the competitive landscape for new trends and evaluate new opportunities to enhance promotions to achieve overall objectives.
•Active participation in the Carina Press acquisition process providing sound marketing perspective on the salability of proposed acquisitions. Assist editorial in the development of pitch decks for author acquisitions.
•Work with key stakeholders to ensure balanced publishing schedules to maximize marketplace opportunities.
•Lead packaging development process with key stakeholders to ensure production deadlines are met, while supporting author/brand strategies and remaining competitive in the marketplace.
•Active communication with sales group (including Edelweiss) providing sales collateral to support sell in with print brook marketing support.
•Collaborate with Sr. Product Manager and imprint groups for recommendations on reversion title opportunities.
•Execute marketing and author build plans to support imprint strategy and goals.
•Lead annual budget spend breakdown to support imprint goals.
Analysis & Reporting (15%)
•Monitor sales trends, identify trends and make recommendations to obtain imprint/author brand goals.
•Identify sales trends/insights and via competitive monitoring take quick action to develop appropriate courses of action to drive business forward.
•Execute post-mortems on author marketing campaign effectiveness vs. goals including key learnings and next steps.
•Effective and efficient communication with all key stakeholders.
•Present program results, key learnings and next steps to select imprint groups and upper management.
•In collaboration with editorial ensure open communication with authors.
