    JOB SUMMARY:
    To assist the Marketing Director in the development of the strategic vision and development of brand and promotional initiatives that support overarching business strategies to increase brand awareness, readership, sales and profitability of the HQN business in North America.

    The Marketing Manager is directly responsible for leading the strategic planning, budgeting, development and managing the execution of initiatives, promotional plans and partnerships for the imprint portfolio of brands to increase awareness, develop audiences to drive sales to meet the division’s strategic and financial objectives. To continually challenge the existing environment, scan the external environment for opportunities and develop new initiatives based on competitive analysis, available technology and sales/trend analysis. Acts as a brand liaison for key business stakeholders including, digital capabilities, editorial, sales & PR (as well as HarperCollins, direct to consumer and overseas colleagues where applicable). Responsible for their imprint growth, collectively with their leadership counterparts within Editorial.

    Responsibilities

    DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:


    Team Leadership: (15%)
    •The responsibility to attract, develop, retain and motivate the team to ensure it comprises the most talented individuals with the right breadth of skills and experience to perform
    •The direct management of Assistant Product Manager - ensuring a clear understanding of their role, how they contribute to the department and company objectives and on-going development to increase business knowledge and retention
    •Engage team to ensure each team is tracking to expected results, reviewing results to take risks and push new campaign ideas and drive new efficiencies across the team
    •Improve communication and planning between Marketing, Editorial and Publicity to drive sales & author/agent satisfaction
    •Role model the guiding behaviors and create culture where team is engaged, growing and performing to their full potential

     

    Publishing Strategy: (15%)
    •In collaboration with the Marketing Director and key stakeholders, manage the imprint strategic planning process. Directly responsible for development of imprint strategies, financial growth and promotional components of plan.
    •Act as brand & imprint promotional lead to broader marketing team on author deep dives, product, title and author specific marketing campaign plans and programs

     

    Marketing Strategy & Execution: (60%)
    •Plan, develop and execute author brand & themed campaigns to achieve objectives, as well as trade marketing efforts to support key retailer and business building strategies, in collaboration with key stakeholders
    •Continued focus on campaign investment, including improving our agility with campaign planning & resources, and maximizing sales via PME funding evolutions & campaign extensions to leverage momentum
    •Ensure on time development, presentation, communication and execution of plans as per
    seasonal work-back schedules
    •Keep on top of technology and marketing trends to identify new promotional and partnership opportunities that support brand and audience growth
    •Evolve promotional plans based on marketplace trends, emerging opportunities and imprint and campaign results

     

    Digital (10%)
    •Support management of digital sales to achieve budget including promotion planning and backlist
    •Continued development of metadata opportunities including improved systems to change and distribute metadata faster and with enhanced automation
    •Ensure effective marketing support plans are developed for key author franchise priorities that uphold format management

    Qualifications

    QUALIFICATIONS:


    Specific training or job experience required before appointment includes:


    •6 + years of publishing experience, with a strong background in digital marketing, brand development and proven ability to establish and measure against campaign KPI’s
    •Strong partnership development & relationship management experience
    •Industry contacts with strong relationships within the marketplace
    •Enthusiastic, highly collaborative, team player with exceptional creativity, problem solving, decision-making and presentation skills
    •Calm under pressure, with the ability to take initiative, effectively lead cross-functional teams and prioritize multiple projects under tight timelines.
    •Results oriented with strong eye to executional excellence
