    Are you ready to step into an innovative and creative role as an Assistant Product Manager for HQN Books?


    As the Assistant Product Manager, you’ll work closely with the Product Manager in planning and executing exciting marketing campaigns, have the opportunity to demonstrate your creative skills in the creation of various decks and presentations and showcase your exceptional analytical skills through budget allocation and maintenance.


    You will work closely with Editorial, Sales and the Social Media team to grow author brands, meet revenue goals and contribute to the overall success of the leading global publisher of great reading for women!


    Major Accountabilities:


    Strategy (30%)
    •In the context of Harlequin’s long-term vision, goals and strategy, assist the Product Manager in the development of marketing plans for HQN Books.
    •Research and recommend advertising and promotional strategies to maximize results for assigned products in accordance with overall growth strategies
    •Continuously monitor the competitive landscape for new trends and evaluate new opportunities to enhance single title promotions to achieve overall objectives


    Execution (50%):
    •Assist the PM in developing marketing strategic plans for HQN Books. Involve key support groups (Editorial, Production, Digital and HSG) in the development of the HQN Books plans.
    •Assist PM in developing and executing strategic marketing plans for HQN authors ensuring top revenue growth, author brand growth and inclusion of corporate priorities
    •Negotiate, coordinate and develop advertising creative for select publications 
    •Track spending/invoicing/ budgets of HQN Books
    •Oversee monthly planning sheets and make recommendations for reallocation of spending as appropriate
    •Continuously monitor author websites and social media platforms and conduct author website audits and assess social media properties as requested
    •Monitor competitive author social media sites
    •Assist the PM with author deep dive research and presentation, author summit research and presentation and imprint summit research and presentation
    •Create and execute strategic in-book materials (BPA’s, BOBA’s,Author Bios, DBIs) for HQN Books


    Communication and Liaison (20%)
    •Effective and efficient communication between the marketing teams, editorial, and social media.
    •Accurately create and maintain Edelweiss catalogs for HSG, planning meetings, and sales conference.  Create other sales force communications such as sell‐sheets, marketing bulletins, brochures, presentations, spreadsheets, special account mailings, video uploading, etc.
    •Create marketing bulletins, presentations and sell sheets to communicate relevant news and information to HSG.
    •Develop author brand decks for author/ agent meetings.
    •Ensure accurate information is maintained in TITAN and Edelweiss for assigned authors/titles



    •Bachelor’s degree in a related field
    •3-5 years similar experience in a consumer driven marketing environment is preferred – digital marketing experience an asset
    •Interest or knowledge of/experience in book publishing preferred.

    •Strong analytical skills a must – including manipulation of data
    •Exceptional computer skills including Excel and PowerPoint
    •Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to enable effective cross-functional interactions
    •Ability to take initiatives and prioritize multiple projects under tight timelines
    •Exceptional problem-solving and decision-making skills and the ability to manage execution.
